The annual celebrity studded AMfAR was nothing short of A-List. The superstar guest list included Nicole Kidman, Chris Tucker, Dustin Hoffman, Will Smith, Jesica Chastain, Toby Maguire, Leonardo Di Caprio David Beckham, Dian Kruger, Adrian Brody and Uma Thurman.
Diana Ross, Joe Jonas, Nicki Minaj and Rita Ora provided entertainment.
The night’s theme was the Golden Age Of Hollywood and art deco accents decorated the beautiful Hotel Du Cap. Fashion’s brightest were there as well including a bevy of designers: Jean Paul Gaultier, Dsquared2’s Dean and Dan Caten, Philipp Plein and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing.
Carine Roitfeld presented a Golden Age Of Hollywood fashion curation for auction on the hottest models in the industry including Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Karolína Kurková, Hailey Baldwin, Barbara Palvin, Jasmine Tookes and Natasha Poly. The selection included a golden open-back mermaid gown from Alexandre Vauthier, a white robe worn over a pink jumpsuit from Chanel, a red leather gown from Louis Vuitton and a black Lurex kimono from Tom Ford. Not forgetting a selection of Harry Winston jewels provided by the brand, a main sponsor of the event. The set of 30 looks went for a cool 3 million euros, or $3.4 million from the attendees who engaged in fierce bidding over the spectacular clothes.
Naiomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief
Naomi Campbell held her Fashion for Relief show in a hangar at the Mandelieu private jet charter airport in Cannes.
The 400 guests included notables Leonardo Di Caprio, Uma Thurman, Donatella Versace and Faye Dunaway. The royal contingent included Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Sarah Ferguson and her daughter Princess Beatrice. Lauren Hill provided the entertainment. Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Antonio Banderas walked her runway show, which raises funds for various environmental and humanitarian causes.
Planet Fashion TV Cocktails And Couture
The new kid on the block was Planet Fashion TV’s Cocktails and Couture. This year we attended the small trendy fashion event in Cannes and it is definitely worth mentioning. While it was not as celebrity heavy as AMfAR, it was certainly glitzy and definitely fun. The event honored the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation. It featured an impeccable fashion show by an Austrian designer, Katharina Kaesbach whose aesthetic was classic European elegance. Her couture collection was notable for its timeless details.
The event was held at the Grand Hotel on the Boulevard de la Croisette in a pop-up gallery right in the middle of the front gardens. It was a vibrant crowd of movie- makers and fashionistas. The attendees danced and partied until almost morning. All night long there were performers costumed as Mozart dancing with the crowd. Presumably, this had something to do with the designer from Austria. I give this credit for being one of the most enjoyable fashion events of the week.
